Joinville, March 08, 2023 – Tupy S.A. (“Company”, B3: TUPY3), hereby informs its shareholders and the market in general that, together with its subsidiary MWM Tupy do Brasil (“MWM), entered into a partnership with agricultural cooperative Primato for the production of renewable fuel and clean electricity. This is Tupy’s first contract in the Energy & Decarbonization sector, after the acquisition of MWM.
The agreement states that MWM will perform the vehicular transformation of the current fleet of diesel engines into biogas. Waste, which will be transformed into renewable fuel, can be used in the truck fleet and to subsidize electricity consumption of the cooperative members.
The investment in this first stage amounts to approximately R$ 9 million and covers 13 properties, which will be served by a biogas plant to be installed in Ouro Verde do Oeste, Paraná State, Brazil, with the potential to reach all Primato’s cooperative members.
With a complete solution for use of waste originated from production process in the farms, it will be possible to neutralize Greenhouse Gas emissions generated by its activities, reducing operational cost, and increasing productivity.
Also, within this system, there is the generation of biofertilizers that replace mineral fertilizers, reducing costs and dependence on imported products and contributing to decreasing carbon footprint.
